Cleaning and Prevention
A preventive program is a cooperative effort by the patient, dentist, and dental staff. Preventing the onset, progression, and recurrence of dental diseases and conditions helps to preserve the natural dentition and supporting structures. Preventing dental disease starts at home with proper oral hygiene and a balanced diet. Bi-annually, and in some case more often, visits to the dental office can help to promote, restore, and maintain oral health. Prevention can includes regular dental exams, cleanings, x-rays, sealants, and fluoride treatments. Preventive care helps to avoid serious and costly dental problems and is the source to having a healthy beautiful smile.
Periodontal Disease
The word periodontal means “around the tooth”. Periodontal disease attacks the gums and the bone that support the teeth. Plaque is a sticky film of food debris, bacteria, and saliva. If plaque is not removed, it turns into calculus (tartar). If not removed, plaque and tartar will destroy the gums and bone. Periodontal disease is characterized by red, swollen, and bleeding gums.
Restorations
Tooth decay has significantly diminished over the years due to the use of fluorides and an increase in patient awareness. However, teeth are still susceptible to decay, infection, and breakage and often need to be restored back to health. Through improved techniques and modern technology, we are now able to offer more options for restoring a tooth back to its normal shape, appearance, and function.
Implants
Dental implants are a surgically placed device meant to replace teeth or provide a stable connection for partials and dentures. Implants are a great choice for replacing teeth allowing a reliable, sturdy, and natural looking replacement. We provide surgical placement of simple implants not requiring sinus lifts nor major bone grafts. Call in today to schedule for a consult.
Occlusal Guards
Occlusal guards are removable mouth guards that help prevent wear and tear on your teeth during the night. If you find yourself grinding your teeth throughout the night, you may need a mouth guard. We can also make guards for sports and snore guards to wear at night to help prevent snoring and aid in sleep apnea.
